The Making of A Postcard From The Edge Of The Underside - Part Three

Episode Summary

Sound Unlimited's big single "Kickin To The Undersound" spent 11 weeks on the ARIA Charts, peaking at number 20 in May 1992. It felt like this was the beginning of a new era for Australian hip-hop. But instead, it would be almost 10 years before another local hip-hop song even touched the top 40. In this episode, we'll try to find out why.

Episode Notes

Sound Unlimited had an album out, a song that cracked the top 20, and had been on the road with some of the rap world's biggest names. But, sadly, this would be the pinnacle of the group's success. Sound Unlimited split, and Australian hip-hop would be ignored by the mainstream for the next ten years. In this episode, Rosano and Kode Blue talk about the last days of Sound Unlimited, before two artists from the next generation of Australian hip-hop speak on the legacy and impact of the group.
